TripGain Travel and Expense Management Solutions builds corporate travel and expense management software, along with a booking platform for travel agencies. Our technology supports flight and hotel bookings, ground transportation, expense receipts, invoice processing, and integrations with airlines and travel suppliers.
We are also expanding our capabilities in AI-powered assistants that help automate travel and expense workflows.
We are looking for a Lead Python Engineer who can take ownership of backend systems and AI-powered features, from solution design to production deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python.
- Build reliable APIs and services for travel bookings, expense management, and supplier integrations.
- Design database schemas, optimize queries, and manage production database changes safely.
- Integrate third-party APIs, including airline, hotel, payment, and other supplier systems.
- Develop and maintain background jobs, queues, caching mechanisms, and webhook integrations.
- Build and deploy production-ready AI/LLM-powered features with appropriate validation, fallbacks, and error handling.
- Monitor application performance, reliability, latency, and infrastructure costs.
- Write meaningful automated tests, maintain technical documentation, and ensure code quality.
- Take end-to-end ownership of features, from technical design to production support.
- Use AI-assisted development tools effectively while ensuring code quality, security, and correctness.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 5–8 years of professional software development experience, with at least 5 years of strong Python backend development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks such as FastAPI.
- Good understanding of asynchronous programming and when to use it effectively.
- Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining REST APIs or other production-grade APIs.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, schema design, query optimization, and data integrity.
- Hands-on experience integrating third-party APIs and handling failures, retries, inconsistent responses, and legacy systems.
- Experience with background processing, message queues, caching, and webhooks.
- Hands-on experience shipping an LLM-powered feature to production for real users.
- Understanding of LLM limitations, output validation, confidence handling, fallback mechanisms, and cost and latency optimization.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, testing, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and take ownership of deliverables.
Good to Have
- Experience in travel technology, travel booking platforms, fintech, or expense management systems.
- Experience building multi-tenant SaaS applications.
- Exposure to analytics platforms or data-intensive systems.
- Basic frontend development skills for internal dashboards and administration tools.
- Familiarity with vector databases, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agent frameworks, or Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Experience working with AI coding assistants and reviewing AI-generated code.
